尼尔·岱尔蒙德(Neil Diamond)1941年
2月24日出生于美国纽约。
早在十几岁时，Diamond 就和同一个高
中的Neil Sedaka和Bobby Feldman一起组成
了Strangeloves，开始尝试词曲创作。1960
年他和Jack Packer一起以Neil & Jack为名
录制了他的第一张唱片。1962年，大学毕业
的他成了全职创作人，他效力于CBS， 但却
没有取得成功。直到1965年，作为作曲者的
Diamond凭借一首由Leiber And Stoller 制
作的《Sunday And Me》 取得了他的第一次
成功。
接下来的一年中，Diamond 又开始了他
的第三次尝试。 他加入了Bert Berns Bang
作为制作人与Jett Barry、Ellie greenwi-
ch共同工作，终于以独具迷人魅力的一曲《
Cherry Cherry》 进入了全美流行曲排行榜
的Top 10。1967年，Diamond 创作出令人难
以忘怀的《I'm A Believer》和《 Little
Bit Me, A Little Bit You》，并销售出了
100万张的好成绩。同年 Diamond 还创作了
《Thank The Lord For The Night》，这首
歌曲融合了音节的感觉和简洁流畅的曲调。
与Band合法解约后，Diamond 又转签于
MCA唱片公司，并从纽约搬到了洛杉矶。 当
Rock路线的专辑《Velvet Gloves And Spit
》没有取得什么成功之后，Biamond 就创作
了一系列旋律简洁易记的歌曲，如《Sweet
Caroline》、《Holly Holy》以及两首冠军
歌曲《Cracklin Rosie》、《Song Sung B-
lue》。
此后，Diamond 又拓展了他的创作领域，
开始为电影原声音乐发挥他的才能，他的《
Beautiful Jonathan Livingston Seagull》
获得了葛莱美奖。
1978年，Diamond 还与Barbra Streis-
and共同演绎了《The Wisful You Don't B-
ring Me Flowers》，广受乐迷喜爱。Diam-
ond又在电影《The Jazz Singer》中扮演了
他生平第一个角色。电影原声专辑销售出了
100万张。80年代，Diamond又与创作高手G-
ilbert Becaud,David Foster联袂合作，为
电影《E.T.》作曲《Heart Light》， 随电
影一起轰动世界。
Diamond 的成功来自于他天才的创作才
华和对音乐的不懈追求，他在欧美乐坛留下
的足迹是无可替代的。
