专辑以“Swisha And Dosha”开头，UGK仿佛回到了90年代中《Ridin' Dirty》时的状态，缓慢的旋律和紧凑的小鼓遥相呼应，Bun B表明了自己的态度：

I ain't got that time to waste, punch your mouth and knock out the taste
You MySpacin and Facebookin, playin games with them toys
I'm in the streets where gangstas meet, while you're online with them boys
So step your game up, build your name up, quit your talkin and quit your doin

UGK永远忠于街头。

这张专辑的多首歌中UGK都体现出了对早期精神的回归，如邀请Scarface来演唱（!!）hook部分的“Still Ridin' Dirty”，尽管这张专辑的封面设计很华贵，但他们的心境还是能回到十多年前一穷二白的饥饿状态的。

像以往一样，UGK最擅长的题材“pimpin'”还是占据了这张专辑的一席之地，第一单曲与OutKast合作、Juicy J & DJ Paul制作的“International Players Anthem”就是典型的一首。Andre 3000的开头琅琅上口:

So I typed a text to this girl I used to see
Sayin' that I chose this cutie pie with whom I wanna be
And I apologize if this message gets you down
Then I CC'ed every girl that I'd see-see 'round town

但Pimp C和Bun B的歌词更精彩：

而后Big Boi的flow也很灵活，soulful的采样（Willie Hutch的名曲“I Choose You”）贯穿始终，这首歌是2007年最好听的单曲之一，最后也夺得了格莱美的提名。

反而和另一大皮条客Too $hort的合作“Life Is...2009”却不是这个内容，有些意外，这首歌和Eric B. & Rakim的“Microphone Fiend”使用了相同采样。

Too $hort和UGK做出了反省，什么是生活的意义？什么是友情？他们在反思。

与南部当今的各路文盲gangsta rappers们不同，UGK显然要有深度得多，在“Heaven”中他们悼念了DJ Screw等逝去的兄弟，在Pimp C和Big Moe在2007年11月离开后听这首歌更加百般交集，休斯顿的rap artists实在是命途多舛。

与Geto Boys成员Willie D合作的“Quit Hatin' The South”则是对那些把Hip-Hop的变质一股脑推到南部身上的人们的还击，这首歌可以看作当年Westside Connection那首“All The Critics In New York”的南部版，Bun B在intro说了些Hip-Hop的顶端现在属于南部的country rap tunes，那些批评都是不实的，然后在歌词里谈到了自己的经历：

I've been down with rap music since Cold Crush and Melle (Melle)
Before MTV put Run-D.M.C. on the tele (tele)
Back when Whodini tried to tell ya about ya friends
Nigga I was giving rap all my time and my ends
Bought damn near every record the muthafucka dropped

"There's no room for everybody, just a few niggaz is swole" (why is that?)
Proabably 'cause they favorite rappers ain't in control
But just let go of the past 'cause it's hurtin your hands
And pass it over to the next generation of fans
And quit hatin the South

事实上Hip-Hop的一些变化确实不能全部归罪于南部，在这里也有很多优秀的Hip-Hop团体，UGK的地位完全有资格说这句话。

在CD2中，UGK和一些相对“陌生”的伙伴做了客串的尝试，比较让人意外的是与英国小子Dizzee Rascal的合作“Two Type of B*tch”以及和Talib Kweli的“Real Women”，不过这两人2007年的专辑中也都出现了UGK的身影，这种互相客串的模式看来是今后的潮流。“Real Women”中UGK同Talib Kweli一起表明了另外一种态度——好女人是值得爱的，哪怕是gangsta。

这是Bun B的表白，而Talib Kweli的歌词更是让人触动，在这个年代有几个饶舌歌手能有这样的见解？

更hype的一首歌是Marley Marl制作，Big Daddy Kane和Kool G Rap加盟的“Next Up”。不过两位纽约城的传奇Kool G Rap和Big Daddy Kane与UGK之间的化学作用并不算出色，算是专辑中低于歌迷期望值的一首歌。

CD2最后的bonus部分附带了“International Players Anthem”的另外两个版本——均由Three 6 Mafia客串的常速版和chopped & screwed版，以及一首T.I.客串的“Hit The Block”，这下南部的众多大名字在这张专辑里已经到齐了，只差Eightball & MJG和Ludacris了。

《Underground Kingz》阵容的奢侈和风格、主题的多元化在近年来非常少见，难得的是UGK也没有被这些客串抢掉风头，这才是他们的了不起之处，也许Hip-Hop历史上唯一一张在规模和质量上可以与其媲美的专辑就是十年之前的《Life After Death》吧。Pimp C的不幸让我们从感情色彩上很难以公正地评价这张专辑，本来就极高的音乐质量在“Pimp C离世”的阴影下被更加扩大了，虽然有少数两三歌曲比较一般，而且整个2CD的时长也非常恐怖——达到了130分钟以上，但我还是将其评为满分，一为纪念Pimp C和以后再不可能出现的UGK；二为专辑中数不胜数的好歌，实在是一场听觉盛宴；三为现在南部的大环境下已经变得越来越稀少的好唱片，怀念90年代的dirty south。
